Screening | Sharkwater: Extinction

Join us on Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara for a special collaborative event with LUSH Cosmetics and Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center to learn about the annual loss of 150 million sharks from our oceans, and what we can do to educate our communities and protect sharks and healthy oceans.

Arrive at the Museum at 5:30 pm for an exclusive curator-led tour of our current exhibition James Benning: Quilts, Cigarettes & Dirt (Portraits of America), followed by a special screening of the 2018 documentary Sharkwater: Extinction, directed by Rob Stewart. Stewart dedicated his life to conservation, saying: “Conservation is the preservation of human life. And, that, above all else is worth fighting for.” He taught the world to love the oceans and their creatures and not fear sharks through his iconic images of hugging and free diving with sharks and mantas.

After the screening guests will have the opportunity to make their own Bath Bombs at the LUSH Cosmetics store in the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center.

LUSH is donating 100% of the sales of their Shark Fin Soap to the Rob Stewart Sharkwater Foundation, and 100 percent of the sales of Charity Pot Body Lotion are donated to groups fighting for environmental justice, animal protection and human rights. Join us to make a difference.
