CAF’s inaugural exhibition at the new Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara celebrates contemporary art with Open House. The artists featured in this year-long exhibition represent a constellation of highlights of CAF’s past ten years, with both existing and newly commissioned works. Comprising local, national, and international artists, Open House breaks down barriers between sightseers and art audiences, while instilling visitors with a deeper connection to Santa Barbara and the arts community. CAF’s satellite space will increase Santa Barbara’s reputation as an art center and offer more opportunities to engage with contemporary art.

About CAF Satellite @ Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara:

Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum expanded to a satellite location in February 2012 with a new space at the Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara. Located at 121 State Street, this boutique hotel combines historic Santa Barbara architecture with modern design. The 41-room site features state-of-the-art technology throughout the rooms, rooftop lounges, lobby, art library, and meeting rooms, as well as beautiful views of the mountains, harbor, and historic downtown area. Santa Barbara-based firm AB Design Studios, Inc., known for its innovative design and approach to adaptive re-use projects, designed the hotel with a sleek, modern atmosphere.

A unique model of a business/museum partnership, the CAF Satellite @ Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara provides a seamless mix of luxury lodging and art space. The satellite features annually rotating exhibitions of thought-provoking contemporary art alongside site-specific commissions, both temporary and permanent. This expansion enables CAF to further its mission by offering high-quality exhibitions and public programs to an even larger segment of the community — all free of charge.
