MCASB Teen Arts Council presents: Intro to Self | Artists’ Reception

Join us for an artists’ reception to celebrate the work of our Teen Arts Council in their new exhibition, Intro to Self.

Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara Teen Arts Council (TAC) is excited to debut Intro to Self, an exhibition of new works representing the experiences of each TAC member. In a time of lingering self-doubt and increasing pressure to conform to societal expectations, these four young women have united to explore issues that not only affect them personally but also speak to the current state of affairs in their local and global communities. Addressing topics such as female identity and the impacts of cultural friction, Intro to Self provides a glimpse into the artists’ individual journeys of self-reflection.

Exhibition on view in the Art Lab: May 16 – June 3, 2018.

Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara Teen Arts Council (TAC) is a hands-on program that makes the contemporary art world more accessible for Santa Barbara students ages 15 to 18. Over the course of six months, TAC members develop visual literacy skills, strengthen leadership abilities, and begin cultivating their own creative networks through exposure to practicing artists and arts institutions in the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles areas.

Art Lab @ MCASB

The Art Lab is an interactive learning space in the Museum that encourages active engagement with the art and artists featured in our exhibitions. Here you will find educational resources and hands-on activities, and we invite you to play to explore. The lab theme changes with each exhibition and complements the art on view with engagement opportunities for visitors of all ages.
