July Curated Cocktails | KCRW Summer Nights

FREE. ALL AGES. OUTDOORS.
Savor warm summer nights with art, cocktails, and live music from KCRW DJ Aaron Byrd at Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara on the beautiful Paseo Nuevo Upper Arts Terrace.

Curated Cocktails: Summer Nights with KCRW features unique themes inspired by the current exhibition Barry McGee: SB Mid Summer Intensive, after-hours museum access, signature cocktails, and interactive art experiences. Curated Cocktails are part of Downtown Santa Barbara's 1st Thursdays.

The July art activity is Love Letters to the Sea. Participants will be asked to create postcards and write messages to the Santa Barbara City Council in support of a ban on styrofoam as well as legislation for plastic straws and serving utensils to be offered only upon request. The colorful creations will be mailed to City Council and legislators after the event. Love Letters to the Sea will be led by Art Educator & Founder of Lost Art of Love Letters, Sondra Weiss.

"Love Letters to the Sea is an arts-integrated, creative letter writing project that promotes positive changes for our oceans. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by environmental issues, students and community members take action, promote innovation, and use their voices to drive policy solutions. Participants take pen to paper as well as brush to paint to express their sentiments, solutions and ocean Love. The handmade letters can be sent to local businesses, policy makers or to say thank you to organizations who are committed to fighting for clean seas and healthy oceans."

Karl Smith will also be on site, ready to write you a 10-cent story.
