MCASB Satellite @ Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara

From 2012 - 2018, Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB) programmed year-long exhibitions and events at a satellite location at Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara, a boutique art hotel that combines historic Santa Barbara architecture and a sleek modern style. Functioning as an extension of the museum, the MCASB satellite site offered world-class exhibitions and public programs to hotel guests and a larger segment of the community—free of charge.

MCASB Satellite @ Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara featured annually rotating exhibitions of compelling contemporary art alongside temporary site-specific commissions from both local and internationally recognized artists. The satellite also offered educational programming, such as artist lectures, curatorial talks, performances, and film screenings, which allowed visitors to access exclusive views of special creative processes and curatorial choices. This culturally-rich site enhanced MCASB’s capacity for creative partnerships with local neighborhood associations such as the Funk Zone, Santa Barbara Waterfront, the Urban Wine Trail, Stearns Wharf, and the Historic Downtown Santa Barbara Arts District.

Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara is owned by Santa Barbara Beach House Hotel, LP, and managed by Courtland-Dane Management Group, Inc, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group. This environmentally friendly arts hotel was designed by Santa Barbara-based AB Design Studios, Inc.
